OUR STORY

Quinby Creek Equestrian founder Christy Loyer has a passion for horses and personally experienced their healing power.

Growing up, she lived south of Atlanta during the school year and near Athens, Georgia, on her grandparents' farm during the summer. After high school, she moved to Charleston, SC.

Loyer became ill in her 20s and early 30s, sometimes not even able to go to work. It was then she felt the deep need to bring horses back into her life. Before long she would have two. Cash was an amazing and very laid back Missouri Foxtrotter Bay gelding and Lulu was a young and frisky Missouri Foxtrotter Pinto mare. On the days Christy couldn't get out of bed, her fiance would take her to the barn to sit with Cash and Lulu. Those visits made her feel like a million dollars.

On July 27, 2008, her beloved horses were struck by lightning during a severe summer storm. Even though their lives were cut short, they had taught Christy about the healing powers of connecting with horses.

Our Story: Inner_about

"Christy has been an amazing mentor for my daughter, Remy -- teaching her how to care for and develop deeper relationships with horses. Remy has a special connection with these beautiful animals and we very much value and appreciate the time that she gets with Christy and the wonderful horses of Quinby Creek!"

CHOSEN BY A HORSE

Not long after Cash and Lulu passed, a family wanted to give Christy a horse they had raised but couldn't keep. They knew she would give Angel the perfect home. Christy didn't feel ready, but Angel didn't care about the timeline.

From that moment on, Christy realized horses were meant to be in her life and should also be in the lives of others who needed healing. Many of her loved ones were dealing with cancer. And, through her work with the military, she met many who were battling PTSD and families who struggled while spouses were deployed faraway. Quinby Creek Equestrian was born. Angel fulfilled her name.
